Nuit calme jusqu’à 6 h
quand le « Flying Cat 5 » part, mais nous nous rendormons après.
Courses, en particulier des fruits et des légumes qui ne sont pas vendus dans
le supermarché mais dans une fruiterie. En redescendant la rue, nous voyons par
une porte entrebaillée une exposition. On y rentre et c’est un centre qui présente
le parc naturel, ce qu’ils font pour protéger les phoques, la situation des
phoques etc. Apparemment les enfants de l’école locale sont assez présents avec
des dessins, des panneaux explicatifs et des travaux manuels. Mais, comme
partout en Grèce en ce moment, les subventions se font rares. Le gars raconte
qu’ils ont des bateaux pour patrouiller mais pas d’argent pour les faire
naviguer. Nous repartons ensuite vers Votsi, le prochain petit port (en travaux)
au nord de Patitiri. Bonne promenade en longeant la mer, on pourrait se croire
sur la Riviera, forêt de pin, hôtels surplombant la mer et fleurs partout. Nous
voyons les travaux du port qui ne sont pas finis, mais le port sera plus
protégé, les jetées ont été rallongées et un bon quai permettra l’accès à plus
de bateaux. En revenant, nous croisons Tony et Eileen. Ils ont habituellement
leur bateau ici, à Votsi, à un corps mort. Nous rentrons et déjeunons. La
promenade a été courte mais raide avec beaucoup d’escaliers donc nous avons mérité
un petit repos. Le Flying Cat s’en va en nous enfumant et sur le quai, un bus
attend des touristes et laisse tourner son moteur longtemps et nous enfume
aussi. Un bateau arrive avec un groupe de touristes anglais, ils viennent de l’ile
suivante, Skopelos. Le bus les emmène, je suppose, à la Chora. Nous allons à la
plage et les voilà qui reviennent, il y a au moins 25 personnes sur la plage,
mais aucun ne se baigne, pourtant l’eau est à 19,5 ⁰ et c’est agréable. Ils repartent
ensuite avec leur bateau. Nous, nous montons au musée voir une exposition sur
la photographie, sur les pirates de la mer Egée et sur la guerre d’indépendance.
De vieilles cartes sont affichées et c’est drôle, mais certaines cartes de l’antiquité
sont plus exactes que des cartes du dix-huitième siècle. Nous mettons un poulet
au four et invitons Tony et Eileen, mais ils ont bien déjeuné à Votsi et
refusent, mais ils nous invitent à boire un verre à 18 h 30. Nous y allons et
Tony nous sert un gin and tonic, c’est drôlement bon. Nous passons un bon
moment ensemble, Tony et Jens parlent de politique, brexit ou pas brexit, et
nous parlons de bateau et des iles ici, ils aiment beaucoup. C’est vrai qu’Alonnisos
est sympathique, boisée, verdoyante, calme et les gens y sont sympas. Nous
rentrons déguster notre poulet, bien bon, et nous nous couchons pas trop tard,
nous partons demain pour Skyros.

Quiet night until 6
am when the "Flying Cat 5" leaves, but we fall asleep again. We go
shopping, especially fruits and vegetables that are not sold in the supermarket
but in a fruit store. Going down the street, we see a door ajar and an exposition.
We go in and it is a center that presents the natural park, what they do to
protect the seals, the situation of the seals etc. Apparently the children of
the local school are quite involved with drawings, texts and handicrafts. But,
as everywhere in Greece at the moment, subsidies are scarce. The guy says they
have boats to patrol the park but no money for having them on the water. Then
we set off again to Votsi, the next small harbor (under work) north of
Patitiri. Good walk along the sea, we could imagine being on the Riviera, pine
forest, hotels overlooking the sea and flowers everywhere. We see the work of
the harbor which is not finished, but the harbor will be more protected,
jetties have been lengthened and a good dock will allow access to more boats.
Returning, we meet Tony and Eileen. They usually have their boat here in Votsi at
a permanent mooring. We go home and have lunch. The walk was short but steep with
many stairs so we deserve a little rest. The Flying Cat leaves smoking right in
our direction and on the dock, a bus waiting for tourists leaves its engine running, no
much fresh air here. A boat arrives with a group of English tourists, they come
from the next island, Skopelos. The bus takes them to the Chora, I suppose. We
go to the beach and there they come back, there are at least 25 people on the
beach, but no one swims, yet the water is 19.5 ⁰ and it's nice. Then they leave with their boat. We climb
up to the museum to see an exhibition on photography, the pirates of the Aegean
Sea and the war of independence. Old maps are displayed and it's funny, but
some antic maps are more accurate than maps of the eighteenth century. We put a
chicken in the oven and invite Tony and Eileen, but they have had a good lunch
in Votsi and refuse, but they invite us for a drink at 6:30 pm. We go and
Tony serves us a gin and tonic, it’s really good. We spend a good time
together, Tony and Jens talk about politics, brexit or no brexit, and we talk
about the boat and the islands here, they like a lot. It’s true that Alonnisos
is charming, woody, green, quiet and the people are nice. We go back on Maja
and eat our chicken which is good, and we go to bed not too late, we leave
tomorrow for Skyros.
